Clear Aligner Therapy
Not sold on traditional metal braces? Our Metro Detroit cosmetic dentists recommend you consider scheduling a complimentary consultation to learn more about how clear, removable teeth aligners can get you the beautiful straight smile you’ve always wanted, no metal wires or brackets needed.
Misaligned teeth can cause difficulties with speaking and eating, as well as keep your smile from looking its best. The good news is that clear aligners are comfortable, removable, and nearly invisible. They also straighten teeth without the obvious appearance of traditional metal braces.
Rather than bonding irritating metal braces to your teeth, our local family dentists will provide you with a set of custom-molded aligners that will gradually reposition your teeth without disrupting your lifestyle. Simply remove the aligners to eat, drink anything other than water, brush, and floss.
Benefits of Clear Aligners
This form of orthodontic treatment uses a custom series of clear, plastic dental aligners that no one can tell you’re wearing. That way, you can smile more during clear aligner therapy as well as after. Clear aligners are made with digital impressions and 3D computer imaging technology and have been proven effective.
Not only are the trays invisible, but they are also removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while undergoing clear aligner treatment. Plus, brushing and flossing are no problem. Aligners are also comfortable, with no metal to cause mouth abrasions during treatment. While your aligners will feel tight when you first get them, any discomfort should subside after the first few days.

Additionally, having no metal components means you spend less time in the dentist’s chair getting adjustments. Clear aligners also allow you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
What to Expect
Our dentists will ask that you wear each set of aligners 20-22 hours a day for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move—little by little, week by week—until they have straightened to the final position.
You’ll visit one of our offices about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages 12-18 months, but this can vary from case to case and may be slightly more or less for some patients.
