Sedation Dentistry

Afraid of the Dentist? We Can Help.
If you or someone you love has been putting off dental care due to fear or anxiety, our Metro Detroit sedation dentists are here to make your experience stress-free and comfortable.
Why Choose Dental Sedation?
Whether you need to repair a broken tooth, replace a missing tooth, or simply get out of pain, sedation dentistry allows you to get the care you need, without the fear.
At our offices, you’ll find safe, relaxing dental sedation options that ease your anxiety and help you feel comfortable. You won’t feel discomfort during treatment, and thanks to the medication’s amnesic effects, you’ll likely remember very little, if anything, about the sights, sounds, or sensations of your visit.
After your procedure, you may feel a bit groggy, so it’s important to have someone drive you home and stay with you while you recover. You’ll be amazed at how much can be done in just one visit, all while you’re fully relaxed and completely comfortable. And best of all, the next day you’ll feel proud knowing you took a big step toward better oral health.
Oral Sedation Dentistry: What to Expect
If dental visits make you feel anxious, oral sedation can help you stay calm and comfortable during your appointment. Here’s what you can expect when you choose this option:
1. Preparing for Your Visit
Before your appointment, we’ll review your medical history and medications to ensure pill sedation is safe for you. You’ll receive instructions on eating and drinking beforehand, and you’ll need a trusted adult to drive you to and from your visit.
2. Taking the Medication
When you arrive, you’ll be given dental sedation medication to help you feel relaxed. You won’t be asleep, just calm and at ease throughout your treatment.
3. Relaxing and Monitoring
It usually takes 60-90 minutes for the medicine to work. During this time, and throughout your procedure, we’ll carefully monitor your comfort, blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels.
4. Your Dental Treatment
Once you’re fully relaxed, we’ll begin your dental care. You’ll remain awake and able to respond, but most patients feel very calm and often remember little about the appointment afterward.
5. Recovery and Going Home
After your treatment, we’ll keep an eye on you until you’re ready to leave. You’ll head home with your driver and simple aftercare instructions. Most patients feel back to normal by the next day.
